Today, my planner was once again filled with times and places to be.
After class until 2, I biked home...actually, I biked at a standstill for 35 minutes before finally pushing free from the wind and making it home. Then I tried to eat a quick lunch but you can't...hurry...a Spanish...almuerzo....and then it was off to my first day at the Jewelry Store!!
I will spare you the three pages of details written in my notebook, but to be brief, karma somehow made it that I work at one of the most respected jewelers in all of Spain, "TOUS". Obviously a match made in heaven, it's a JEWELRY STORE...and their icon is a TEDDY BEAR!! :)
I learned today that Spanish businesses really trust random people, because not only was I handed all the secret notebooks of the successful company, but they then asked me to organize all their beautiful gold and white gold necklaces, pendants, rings...and to start memorizing prices.
Let me tell you, even though they say their clients are middle class to middle-high class, I am not about to pay $600 for a 5 inch golden teddy bear. ...Niko?
Then I walked across plazas and fountains to get to a white stone building where my Women in Culture class was being held, and sat next to a very sweet Valencian girl--which I learned by the end was a GREAT idea because I only understand 45 minutes out of the 1h30 the speaker was talking. Conclusion of her speech: children's stories and songs are crucial to establishing the child's confidence and security. Alright!
P.S. For my boy readers, start a waiting list, she was super hot. Single friends get preference.
On my way home, I "ran into" my favorite French bakery...I think the combination of now knowing where it is and working on the street with the most stores in the entire world (Austrian readers, it rivalizes with Mariahilferstrasse) will prove extremly dangerous...
Tomorrow, I start my second internship on the Resolution of Conflicts! I don't know where it is, who it's with, or what we're doing, so please cross your fingers that they don't bring us out on the street at 5 am to "resolve" a bar "conflict"...
My planner, until now nice and fresh and white, has gone back to black.
BUT don't let this fool you, I promise that my social life is well taken care of! And I'm making tons of new friends! (No, they are not all named Amine and don't all nonchalantly hand me roses).
Besos,
Roxy
