Prague, continued!
Wednesday was shopping day, since Prague is known for its amazing second-hand shops...vintage AND cheap, MY ALLEY! We stumbled upon the Havel open-air market, with stalls full of shalls, local art, wooden mugs, etc. We ate more typical Prague food (count oignon and cabbage soup, gnocchi's, goulash...and warm spiced milk for me, each meal maybe 6 euros?). Of course, we had to get more trödln...and this one had nutella on the inside...so good.
Though I don't have picture of these (because I forgot to charge my camera...), we also hit (and you should too) the Chocolate Museum (typical, right?), Church of our Lady before Tyn, and climbed to the top (again, climbing is better for the view) of another side of the hill to see the river trolling along. Behind us was this HUGE metronome, and we wondered what it was, and if that hill was important at some point? We found out LATER
that the metronome replaced a statue of Lenin that was torn down when Communism fell! And we never even knew! Kids, that's why you go to museums.
Before leaving our hostel, we all said goodbye to the luxury. Leaving Prague was a little sadder than I expected...five days showed me a glimpse of the hidden wonders of Prague, and I know I side-stepped all the small beauties tucked away in shaded corners in my haste to see the main attractions. Prague has a timeless, humble charm. I found the fairytale in the city that for so long seemed a mystery to me, and for that, the little child in me is happier. Prague, I will come back![Plane to Rome...]
Besos for now, Roxy
